Leah Keiser, ph.d.

Strain Engineering Scientist

I am a Strain Engineer at FutureBio. I earned my BS in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern and am finishing my PhD in Chemical Engineering at UC Berkeley. Over the past decade, I have worked at the intersection of protein, metabolic, and strain engineering, with my doctoral research focused on engineering large proteins and microbial hosts to make biodegradable plastics. I am excited to translate my experience in designing sustainable manufacturing systems into FutureBio's mission of building a circular economy. Outside of the lab, I enjoy hiking, exploring bay area restaurants, and playing with my dog!
